The Mermaid three hook flapper rig (3 up) is one of the main stay rig designs, This is an ideal rig for flatfish and many other species presenting the bait on three hooks which flap around. (Optional stand off sleeves are supplied although not shown)  The three hook flapper rig is more suited to fishing from a pier or jetty as the three hooks tend to flap about when the rig is cast, reducing the casting distance. This rig does allow you to experiment with different combinations of hooks, bait and depth.
